Thanks to all who sent in goodies and sundae makings for our Valentine's Day Party, the kids had fun passing out cards, treats and making fabulous sundaes!

    
  
Spelling Bonus Word:    no new words this week!

Reading:  Our story for the past two weeks is called Our Family Get Together   We have been talking about family trees, family traditions, how things were different in the"olden days"!   There will be some special homework to interview a V.I.P. (very important person)  to your child.    We ask that the VIP be at least 50 years old. Your child's VIP may or may not be related to your family.  These will be on Friday.  I can't wait to hear all about their VIP's!        

Math Concepts:    We are starting unit 8, Subtracting to Solve Problems!!  Students will learn to use a part part whole stategy.  They will create their own subtractions stories and cartoons.  First graders will also learn to count up and back to solve subtractions problems.  They will need to be able to explain the stategy they use to solve problems.  This can be challenging.  Watch for homework!
